Freescale Launches MPXV7000 Series for Versatile Pressure Measurement

MEMS-based pressure sensors designed to adjust to positive and negative pressure readings

AUSTIN, Texas - Nov. 5, 2007 - Freescale Semiconductor is introducing three integrated pressure sensors, the MPXV7002, MPXV7007 and MPXV7025, designed to measure positive pressure and vacuum conditions. The sensors are ideal for a wide range of consumer, industrial, appliance, healthcare and automotive applications.

Based on micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) technology, the MPXV7000 series pressure sensors measure pressure ranges up to +/- 25kPa. Of particular interest to embedded designers, these highly adaptable pressure sensors can adjust to the requirements of positive and negative pressure readings as needed. With the offset hovering at 2.5V, system designers can easily mate this sensor with a microcontroller and immediately determine the pressure in the system. The temperature compensation and calibration capabilities of the MPXV7000 series are designed to simplify system development and help ensure high performance.

The MPXV7000 pressure sensor series provides a cost-effective way to measure pressure with real-time feedback and adjustment. To accommodate a perfect application fit, the sensors support a variety of package porting options, including vertical, single-side and dual-side ports. From a manufacturing perspective, the sensors' small outline package (SOP) lends itself to high-volume production with a surface-mount option.
