D-Link® Launches NetDefend(TM) Unified Threat Management Solutions for Small and Medium-Sized Business

D-Link NetDefend Appliances Based on New Partnership With Check Point to Deliver Enterprise-Level Network Protection for SMB

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 28 / -- D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers and business, will begin shipping this quarter new D-Link NetDefend security appliances specifically designed for small and medium businesses (SMBs) and offering affordable and easily administered unified threat management (UTM) protection against potential disastrous and costly attacks to the office network.

Both the D-Link NetDefend DFL-CPG310 and DFL-CP310 deliver enterprise-level UTM features in a single device powered by Check Point's advanced Embedded NGX(TM) with Application Intelligence(TM) technology and market-leading Firewall-1(TM) and VPN-1(TM) software. The inclusion of Check Point's software provides SMB users with complete UTM protection from Internet and network-based threats.

"These new security appliances extend our popular NetDefend product line by offering SMBs an all-in-one, intuitive network security solution to protect them from potentially devastating attacks," according to D-Link Chief Technology Officer A.J. Wang. "They combine an enterprise-class stateful inspection firewall, gateway antivirus, intrusion prevention, remote-access virtual private networking and content filtering into a single, easy-to-use platform.

"These security appliances automatically determine whether communication attempts are legitimate, making the network safe from attacks," Wang added.

Check Point's stateful inspection firewall technology allows the network administrator to establish rules about who can or cannot access the network and its devices. It also delivers greater protection against hackers than packet filter or Network Address Translation-based firewalls by thoroughly examining and retaining information contained in data packets.

The feature-rich NetDefend secured by Check Point devices are designed to ensure maximum efficiency and security of network bandwidth, and allow proper usage of Internet resources, such as instant messaging, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

In addition, D-Link's newest SMB security devices provide protection to all PCs on the network by blocking viruses at the gateway -- before they enter the network.

The NetDefend secured by Check Point devices also make it easier for company employees to securely access the office network from remote locations using the VPN capabilities. They also allow for business expansion as VPN usage increases.

D-Link NetDefend DFL-CPG310 (wireless) and DFL-CP310 (wired) Features:
o Dual WAN ports for failover support on redundant broadband connections
o Color-coded attack incident reports for simplified threat detection and evaluation
o A "Who Is" utility identifies IP address owners, providing Internet "caller ID" for suspected attackers

o Setup wizard to quickly establish pre-set or custom security policies
o A Traffic Shaper bandwidth management Quality of Service (QoS) system allowing administrator to fully control network traffic flow

o Compatible with 802.11b, 802.11g and D-Link 108G WLAN clients providing support for a wide range of deployed wireless LAN technologies
