Securent Integrates its Entitlement Management Solution with Sun Microsystems' Identity Management Products

Securent Forms Relationship with Sun to Deliver Entitlement Capabilities to Joint Customers; Benchmarks Flagship Product at Top Performance on SolarisTM Platform

SAN FRANCISCO, June 27, 2007 - Securent, Inc., the award-winning leader in the entitlement management market, today at the Burton Group Catalyst Conference 2007 in San Francisco announced that it has enabled integration of its flagship product, the Securent Entitlement Management Solution (EMS), with Sun Microsystems' identity management portfolio. This is part of an effort to provide Sun customers with fine-grained access control to help them meet their compliance needs. In addition, Securent is announcing today the results of rigorous benchmarking tests conducted on the SolarisTM platform at Sun's labs. Securent's results demonstrate that EMS can scale linearly on the SolarisTM 10 Operating System (OS) to support customers' most demanding performance and scalability requirements.

"We welcome Securent's efforts to enable integration of their Entitlement Management Solution with Sun's identity and access management products," said Don Bowen, distinguished marketing director, Sun Microsystems. "We see a great opportunity to offer our customers fine-grained access controls and visibility that will enable them to better address their security and compliance requirements."

Securent EMS is now proven interoperable with Sun JavaTM System Access Manager, the first identity and access management solution to extend security for Web applications and JavaTM technology applications to federated and Web services environments. This capability gives customers the ability to take an authenticated identity credential from Sun's JavaTM System Access Manager and use it to enforce fine-grained access control across disparate applications. As a result, customers can benefit from a seamless end-to-end solution for protecting their information and resources with consistent authentication and unified access control.

Sun JavaTM System Identity Manager is the first complete solution proven to reduce the cost of managing identities both inside and outside enterprises while mitigating compliance risks and making the process repeatable and sustainable. Through this initiative, Sun customers can now provision identities and identify attributes to Securent EMS, leveraging the same processes and workflows they have already modeled within Sun's JavaTM System Identity Manager. This allows Sun customers to leverage their existing technology investments and established business processes, while at the same time reap the benefits of Securent's centralized visibility and control of entitlements.

In benchmark tests conducted by Securent at Sun's labs, EMS was successfully demonstrated to scale to more than a million active users, with greater than 10,000 concurrent users under peak load for an extended time period. Under these conditions, and with caching enabled, Securent provided sub-millisecond response times on authorization decisions. Customers can use these results to more accurately gauge the hardware requirements needed for their Sun/Securent deployments. "We are pleased to continue to expand our work with Sun, who is helping us meet the growing needs for an innovative entitlement management solution," said Ranjeet Vidwans, vice president of business development, Securent. "Demand from organizations looking for a way to secure fine-grained access and entitlements into their applications and data without resorting to custom coding of each application is driving our continued growth and industry traction. Through our integration efforts with Sun, we will be able to more readily address these enterprise needs. In addition, we plan to continue to deepen our existing projects with Sun and continue to expand our integration with a number of additional Sun products."

Securent EMS enables organizations to secure sensitive applications and data with ease and precision. For the first time, organizations can benefit from a proven XACML standard-based solution to create, enforce, review, and audit fine-grained access policies across heterogeneous applications and IT environments distributed throughout the enterprise, all with centralized management and visibility. Securent provides a more scalable and cost-effective alternative to custom coding of fine-grained access controls into applications. Loosely coupling entitlements with application services, Securent EMS is also a key infrastructure service in an effective service-oriented architecture (SOA) deployment. The results, as seen in Fortune 1000 deployments, include improved security and compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Basel Capital Accord (Basel II), and the National Association of Securities Dealers Rule 2711 (NASD 2711).
