SCO and Day-Timers Set Appointment to Deliver Personal and Professional Mobile Automation Solutions to Customers

SCO's Me Inc. Mobile Services Division and Day-Timers, Inc. Partner to Provide a Full Set of Mobile Productivity Solutions to Increase Work Efficiency

LAS VEGAS, SCO FORUM, Aug. 7 / - The SCO Group, Inc. ("SCO") (NASDAQ:SCOX), today announced it has entered into a strategic business partnership with Day-Timers, Inc. to develop, market, merchandise, and support a suite of Day-Timer® branded mobile automation solutions. Code-named DT4, these solutions extend time management, calendaring, and task management through integrating Me Inc. Shout, Vote, and other services. DT4 will introduce a "Day in a Life" automation for personal and professional tasks and will offer custom solutions for verticals markets such as lawyers, doctors, real estate agents, and insurance agents for both mobile and PC clients. This rich integration of products will benefit customers by enabling them to organize their lives with a complete mobile solution.

"We anticipate DT4 to be the next killer application for mobile phones. We've been working on mobile solutions for three years and together with Day-Timers, we're going to change the rules for how individuals and groups automate the sharing and accessing of information from wherever they are," said Darl McBride, president and CEO, The SCO Group. "According to In-Stat, the worldwide sales of wireless handsets will grow to 1.9 billion units by the year 2011. With DT4 and other Me Inc. mobile services, we are tapping into this growing market and putting powerful computing into the hands of individuals and businesses."

DT4 is designed to function in a shared collaborative environment that can also be customized to the needs of individual users. It is unlike any other computer or paper-based organization tool, as it provides specialized, real-time automation of life and business events in any location via mobilization. Technologically, DT4 is also unique as it is carrier and platform independent and will run on various handsets such as the Palm Treo or RIM Blackberry. DT4 provides users with instant information through real-time access to both personal and corporate resources and databases.

In addition to the mobile software, DT4 will be powered by SCO's unique back-end EdgeClick servers to provide immediate and secure information to users in the home, field or office. For over 25 years, SCO has been a technology leader for secure transaction-based processing and is now extending this rich server heritage to the world of mobile solutions. These back-end servers are customized support platforms, service-oriented architecture, and perform the transaction processing and heavy lifting for each mobile device. They also provide a single, flexible and secure channel for information flow and connectivity enabling DT4 to effectively off-load processing, switching, routing, and message queuing from mobile phones without having to synchronize in a cradle. Also, because SCO realizes that security, speed, flexibility and cost-effectiveness are critical to business survival, DT4 will include the ability to quickly and easily share applications of all kinds between disparate organizations.

"In looking to expand Day-Timers' reach into an electronic market, we found that Me Inc. mobile services technology enables us to extend our brand into the smartphone and PC-accessible user markets," said Ed Bjorncrantz, vice president, direct marketing for Day-Timers. "DT4 will be the first true personal and group productivity solution for the mobile market and it will have a dramatic effect on the way our customers conduct their everyday lives. Its ability to meet vertical market demands, as well as personal daily needs, gives it a competitive advantage and puts it in a new market of its own."

Through the partnership, Day-Timers will market the productivity solutions through their current channels, including the nation's leading office supply retailers, the Day-Timer website at www.daytimer.com, and the Day-Timer catalog. SCO will also market the Day-Timer branded solutions through its existing channels. The solutions will be marketed in phases and will be available in North America by the end of 2006.
