WANdisco Releases New Security Features for Multi-Site Development and Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance

WANdisco SCM Suite's Enterprise Edition Solutions for CVS, Subversion and CVSNT provide security features that protect intellectual property and support ongoing compliance.

Pleasanton, CA March 10, 2006 -- WANdisco, the leader in real-time multi-site development solutions, today announced the release of its new SCM Suite Enterprise Edition security features for CVS, Subversion and CVSNT.

In this era of offshore outsourcing it is imperative that companies are able to protect their valuable intellectual property. In addition, companies are also facing new regulatory requirements imposed by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) that are having an impact on IT organizations. In order to respond to these challenges, IT organizations must be able to control and track access to source code. With WANdisco's new security features, which build upon WANdisco's unique multi-site development solutions, organizations are now able to achieve this.

WANdisco's Enterprise Edition provides full authorization, authentication, access control and audit capabilities that go well beyond the security features that CVS, Subversion, or CVSNT provide on their own. Administrators can implement and maintain the most complex security policies across all development sites with a minimum of effort. Single sign-on is supported by integration with LDAP and other authentication servers. Once the security configuration is defined it can be replicated automatically to all sites. Groups, roles and users can be defined and fine grained access control can be implemented down to the branch, module, source code file, or client ip address levels, to ensure the segregation of duties that auditors look for.

"As the source of version history truth, the SCM system is the nexus of any traceability effort," said Carey Schwaber, Forrester Analyst.

WANdisco automates this traceability effort by providing online audit reports that track:
o What access rights users have
o When access rights were changed and by whom
o User access history showing when source code files were accessed by a user over a given time period, and what commands were used
o User access violations including: userid, ipAddress of system from which access was attempted, files accessed, branches accessed, command used, and date and time of unauthorized access attempt.

About WANdisco
Since 2001 WANdisco has set out to push the limits of what can be achieved with distributed systems deployed on a Wide Area Network (WAN). The result of these efforts is new technology that fundamentally changes the way distributed nodes, or servers, interact to provide unprecedented levels of reliability, availability and scalability (RAS) enabling the internet to realize its full potential. WANdisco has applied this technology to the development of its suite of multi-site SCM solutions for CVS, CVSNT, and Subversion. For the first time a development team can truly be spread-out across the world and work as one unit, in real-time.

Global 2000 companies rely on WANdisco's suite of SCM solutions for CVS,CVSNT and Subversion to enable them to distribute work based on where their talent is located, rather than on the basis of time-zone constraints. This results in dramatically reduced costs and significantly improved utilization of scarce resources. For more information, visit www.wandisco.com.
