Scanning Probe brings inspection and scanning to small CMMs.

Press Release Summary:

SP600Q is 98 mm long and mounts directly to quill of CMM. It allows rapid scanning measurements or digitizing, even around sharp corners. Stylus modules attach magnetically to kinematic mount for repeatable stylus changes without re-qualification. With wide range of styli and 0.1 micron resolution, SP600Q is suitable for part inspection and measurement, as well as scanning finely detailed molds, dies, models, or prototypes.

New Ultra-Compact Analog Scanning Probe Brings High-Performance Inspection and Scanning to Small CMMs

July 2002 - Renishaw has expanded its SP600 family of analog scanning probes with the ultra-compact SP600Q for small CMMs. The SP600Q probe allows cost-effective inspection, digitizing and profile scanning on CMMs with limited working volume thanks to compact design and in-quill mounting with no probe head.

The SP600Q is just 98mm in overall length, and mounts directly to the quill of the CMM for increased rigidity and improved performance. In-quill cabling ensures fast, neat installation with no trailing cables.

With a wide range of styli and 0.1-micron resolution, the SP600Q is ideal for part inspection and measurement, as well as scanning finely detailed molds, dies, models or prototypes, including jewelry, coins and buttons. Sensitive, yet robust, the system allows rapid scanning measurements or digitizing, even around sharp corners, reducing cycle times on automated CMMs. Inspection speed and versatility are further enhanced with stylus modules that attach magnetically to a kinematic mount for repeatable stylus changes without time-consuming re-qualification.

The SP600Q is supported by Renishaw's PH10M automatic-indexing motorized probe system for use on larger CMMs, and the ACR autochange rack systems which enable quick probe sensor changes.
