DTI Introduces Next Generation CompactPCI Blade

New cPB-4612 Single Board Computer featuers Intel® Pentium® M processor and Intel® 855GME chipset for Packet Switched Backplane Platforms

RIDGELAND, MS - February 17, 2004 - Diversified Technology, Inc. announced today the release of the cPB-4612 CompactPCI Blade based on the Intel® Pentium® M processor, expanding DTI's line of PICMG® 2.16 products targeted at OEMs developing high performance products for carrier-grade Telecom and Internet IP-based markets. The cPB-4612 is compliant with the PICMG® 2.16 standard and optimizes system bandwidth featuring dual Gigabyte Ethernet for use in Packet Switched Backplane platforms.

"DTI's cPB-4612 SBC Blade assists TEMS and NEMS ability to meet space and thermal requirements with the addition of the Intel® Pentium® M processor," said Mike Dempsey, DTI's CTO. "Combined with the Intel® 855GME chipset and Intel® 6300ESB I/O Controller Hub, the single slot solution delivers a larger bandwidth pipe to handle the increased data traffic in the IP network."

"By including the Intel® Pentium® M processor, Intel® 855GME chipset and the Intel® E6300ESB I/O controller combination on their cPB-4612 single board computer, Diversified Technology is able to deliver a high performance solution for customers with thermally-constrained applications." Said Ton Steenman, general manager, Embedded Intel® Architecture Division. "This technology solution will enable Diversified Technology to offer a solution that can meet the demanding requirements of current and next generation embedded computing applications."

About the cPB-4612

The cPB-4612 features the Intel® low power, high performance Pentium® M Processor. Processor speeds ranging up to 1.7GHz are available with 1MB L2 cache. The cPB-4612 is based on the Intel® 855GME chipset with 400MHz front side bus. System memory of up to 2GB is supported via two PC-2700 SO-DIMM's. Onboard are three 10/100/1000 MBPS Ethernet controllers (two routed according to PICMG® 2.16 and the third available at the RTM or front panel), an Ultra-ATA IDE interface, Serial ATA, two PMC sites (one 64-bit/66MHz and one 32-bit/33MHz), High Speed USB, serial ports, and a floppy interface. The cPB-4612 also includes a two-stage watchdog timer for enhanced system reliability.

The cPB-4612 has a universal PCI bridge to the backplane and can therefore operate in any slot of a PICMG® 2.16-compliant Packet Switched Backplane (PSB). PICMG® 2.9 system management is also supported via a satellite management controller.

Part of DTI's PlexSys family of PSB products, the cPB-4612 is validated with DTI's cPS-4081 4U general purpose, carrier grade computing platform with cSB-4240 Ethernet level 2/3 switch. The IPMI 1.5-compliant Baseboard Management Controller (BMC), when used with the cCM-3402 chassis management module supports a comprehensive, protected lights-out management scheme. DTI also offers 8U and 12U, PICMG® 2.16 Chassis in the PlexSys product line. The board is covered by a 2-year limited warranty.

The cPB-4612 system/peripheral processor blade is a cost effective choice for application developers addressing high performance, converging Telecom and Internet IP-based markets such as VPN switchers, media gateways, 2.5G/3G wireless, server clusters, IP DSLAM and voice/video/data servers.

Pricing and Availability

OEM pricing for the cPB-4612 processor blade, excluding memory, starts at $1850 with a 1.6GHz Intel® Pentium® M processor. Production shipments begin in Q1, 2004.
