ADLINK Announces cPCI-6820 Single Slot Dual Intel® Pentium® III Processor 6U CompactPCI SBC with PICMG 2.16, Onboard IDE Bay, PMC, and Dual Gigabit Ethernet



Irvine, CA (April 25, 2003) - ADLINK Technology Inc., a leading manufacturer of PC-based industrial computers for measurement, automation, and communication, today announces cPCI-6820, the full featured Intel® Pentium® III Processor based 6U CompactPCI single board computer. The cPCI-6820 supports low voltage Pentium® III processors up to 1 GHz and ECC memory up to 2 GB. Additional feature sets include dual Gigabit Ethernet controllers, PMC slots, onboard 2.5" IDE bay, PICMG 2.16 packet switching backplane compliance, and PICMG 2.9 system management capabilities, all packed into a single slot width form factor ideal for high density, high availability systems.

Individually or working in tandem, the universal PCI bridge support allows the cPCI-6820 to act as a standalone system or part of a multiprocessing blade server system of up to 21 blade servers. Because of its compact, fan-less design, on-card hard disk and ruggedized cPCI footprint, the new all-in-one system on a board can be used as a server or a multiple device controller where space limitations exist. The cPCI-6820 module is compliant with the CompactPCI base specification PICMG 2.0 and the PICMG 2.1 Hot Swap Specification. In addition, the PICMG 2.16 specification allows cPCI-6820 to communicate with other blades via the Ethernet on the backplane.

In addition to the onboard VGA, serial port, keyboard port, mouse port, and dual USB ports, the I/O capability of the cPCI-6820 can be enhanced with the addition of the cPCI-R6820 rear transition module. The cPCI-R6820 rear transitional module adds support for two additional USB ports, two serial ports, a removable CompactFlash socket, and mounting location for a 2.5 inch IDE hard drive or flash drive.
