SAS Signs Strategic Partnership with Oman's VEC Oil & Gas Consultants
Leading oil & gas firm to establish Middle East region's first Analytics Centre of Excellence
October 19, 2011 - SAS, the leading provider of business analytics software and services, signed a strategic partnership agreement with Value Engineering Centre (VEC Oil & Gas Consultants), one of the Middle East region's leading consultancy firms for the oil & gas segment, at the VEC Oil & Gas Consultant's head office in Al Khuwair, Muscat, Oman. The agreement, which was signed by Shukri Dabaghi, General Manager, SAS and Sayyid Mohammed Al Said, Managing Director, VEC Oil & Gas Consultants, is part of VEC's move to establish the region's first Analytics Centre of Excellence (ACE). Under the terms of the partnership, SAS will provide ACE with 'SAS Business Analytics' software & expertise, thereby enabling the pioneering Omani centre to make faster and more accurate data-driven decisions. The centre will be driven by Omani resources and is expected to help create job opportunities in the near future.
The VEC ACE is being established to primarily help service Oman's thriving Petroleum industry, and will also target the sharing and transfer of Oman's expertise and knowledge of the industry to the Middle East & Global markets in the next three to five years. The creation of the centre follows the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, to create more job opportunities for Omani citizens and supports the Sultanate's move towards indigenising technology locally in Oman and creation of employment opportunities for Omani citizens.
