Brocade Broadens Leadership with Launch of Entry-Level Data Mobility and Data Protection Solution

New SAN Router Enables Fast, Simplified, and Cost-Effective Remote Disk Replication for Smaller-Scale Deployments

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 26 -- Brocade(R) (NASDAQ:BRCD), a leader in data center networking solutions that help enterprises connect and manage their information, today announced the Brocade 7500E SAN Router, a Fibre Channel over IP (FCIP) extension solution for entry-level remote data replication. With the addition of this product, Brocade is expanding its extension portfolio to include a solution that meets the needs of smaller businesses and remote offices. As a result, users in these environments now have an easy-to-use, affordable option for supporting data protection and global data mobility without compromising resiliency and availability.

"Business Continuity and data protection are critical to organizations of all sizes around the world, challenging many IT managers with limited staff and budget resources to deliver data replication for disaster recovery," said Mario Blandini, Director of Product Marketing for the Brocade Data Center Infrastructure Division. "The Brocade 7500E solution for remote data replication provides a new entry point within Brocade's leading portfolio of SAN extension solutions for smaller organizations, and offers a cost-effective remote office option for larger enterprises."

Leveraging field-proven Brocade 7500 extension and routing technology, the Brocade 7500E is a purpose-built SAN routing solution for easy-to-deploy remote disk replication. The Brocade 7500E has a lower initial port density and bandwidth capacity, giving customers a lower entry option for remote disk replication without compromising advanced services and high availability features such as redundant power supplies, Fast Write, compression, SO-TCP and fabric isolation for greater resiliency.

When growth dictates additional Fibre Channel port connectivity, increased bandwidth or additional functionality-such as inter-fabric routing or encryption services-Brocade 7500E customers can seamlessly upgrade to full Brocade 7500 capability via a software license upgrade. This makes the Brocade 7500E an ideal data protection and business continuity solution for growing businesses, providing investment protection as they evolve.

The Brocade 7500E is compatible with the entire portfolio of Brocade data center infrastructure products, including the new Brocade DCX(TM) Backbone. The Brocade 7500E is available now from Brocade and Hitachi Data Systems; and will be available in March through Brocade's independent channels. It will be available from other Brocade OEM Partners in the first half of 2008.

"A primary advantage we see with the Brocade 7500E is that it is an easy and affordable data protection solution-and the fact that it provides enterprise-class features without added complexity," said Steve TenBarge, Vice President, Global Product Marketing, Hitachi Data Systems. "Our customers will benefit from the Brocade 7500E in supporting small business and remote office disaster recovery, business continuity, and data migration initiatives."
