Pilz PNOZmulti Safety System Now Tailored to Press Safety
With the new PNOZ m2p base unit, the multi-functional PNOZmulti safety system from Pilz Automation Safety LP (Canton, MI) is now geared specifically toward the safety-related requirements of industrial presses. PNOZmulti monitors all safety equipment on press brakes, eccentric presses, and hydraulic presses. User-friendly diagnostics reduce downtime, increasing productivity. Press upgrades can also be implemented economically and ensure the safety system is in place.
All necessary safety and standard control functions are configured simply and rapidly on a PC using the PNOZmulti Configurator program, making configuration infinitely adjustable. Specific BG-approved press blocks also are available through the software. Users can configure the monitoring of operating modes such as setup mode, single-stroke and automatic, as well as the monitoring of safety light curtains in single-break or double-break mode. The same applies to monitoring a camshaft with run monitoring, plus ESTOP, two-hand control, safety gates and foot switches. In conjunction with expansion modules, the system can monitor standstill and speed as well as press safety valves. Users store the configured application on a chip card, which is then inserted into the base unit.
Because the PNOZmulti safety system undertakes complete control of the machine, it is more economical than previous solutions, particularly on small and medium-sized presses. PNOZmulti complies with applicable standards and protects the machine and its operator to a high level of safety: up to Category 4 in accordance with EN 954-1 or SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508.
