Honeywell Introduces the FF-SYB Series Type 4 Fully Integrated Safety Light Curtain
FREEPORT, Ill., February 16, 2004 - Honeywell Sensing and Control has introduced the FF-SYB Series Type 4 Fully Integrated Safety Light Curtain. With easy troubleshooting the FF-SYB Series is simple to set up and use. It simplifies wiring, reduces the number of relay modules used and requires less space in the electrical cabinet. The FF-SYB is compact and robust, with a cross section of 55 mm x 43 mm [2.2 in x 1.65 in]. It meets the requirements of Type 4 according to IEC/EN 61496-1/2 making it suitable for all risk levels, and is CE and sCSAus marked.
The user-friendly FF-SYB comes with many value-added features such as its unique, patented configuration card system and simple diagnostic indicators. Other features include:
o An integrated muting capability allowing passage of material through the protection field at certain stages of the process. Temporary Manual Muting (TMM) allows bidirectional or one-way muting and manual override of the muting function.
o A floating blanking capability that allows material to obstruct one or two beams without stopping the machine.
o An ability to connect an auxiliary safety device which allows increased process flexibility.
o An External Device Monitoring (EDM)/Restart Input to allow control of the external relays.
o A non-safety auxiliary output that provides selectable signaling output or muting lamp output.
o A remote test input to trigger the FF-SYB outputs and control external relays at regular intervals when the safety light curtain detection field is not frequently interrupted.
o A cross-talk reduction system that allows selection of the scanning range to solve optical interference issues.
The FF-SYB Series is designed for point-of-operation (finger, hand and leg), presence and access detection. All models are available with protection heights from 320 mm to 1760 mm [12.6 in to 69.3 in]. The FF-SYB is also available with two, three or four beams with a standard range from 0 m to 30 m [0 ft to 98.4 ft], and a long range version from 2 m to 80 m [6.6 ft to 262.5 ft].
