RTD Sensors feature cold end seal for protection.

Press Release Summary:

ENVIROSEAL(TM) RTD sensors employ cold end seal that houses rubber gland and offers temperature rating of -5 to +400°F. Seal provides extreme protection from salt water, motor oil, and chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, and boric and nitrous acid. Combined with sensor's wide temperature rating, units are suitable for refrigeration or condensation units, food processing, industrial ovens, packaging equipment, and environmental control systems.

Patent Pending Cold End Seal from Watlow Shields Sensors from Contaminants

St. Louis - Watlow introduces its patent pending ENVIROSEAL(TM) cold end seals designed to block oil and other contaminants from infiltrating RTD sensors. The new seals are ideal for demanding applications requiring greater protection than that provided by standard cold end epoxy splashguards.

ENVIROSEAL RTD sensors employ a cold end seal that houses a rubber gland. The seal offers a temperature rating of -50 to 204°C (-58 to 400°F) and also exceeded moisture resistance testing in a humidity chamber per ASTM E644 paragraph 15 standards. Additionally, the new RTDs feature a unique design that increases wire pull out resistance by 70% (15 lbf minimum) over existing epoxy designs. Both the cold end seal and the new sensor design, which improves pull out resistance, are patent pending.

The ENVIROSEAL RTD's cold end seal provides extreme protection from salt water, motor oil and chemicals such as bleach, ammonia and boric and nitrous acid. Combined with the sensor's wide temperature rating, the ENVIROSEAL RTD is perfect for a wide variety of applications, including refrigeration or condensation units, food processing, industrial ovens, medical research, packaging equipment and environmental control systems.

The new sensors also feature a vibration resistant design, meet IEC60751, BS 1904 and EN60751 standards and are available with a variety of fitting and termination options.
