Rand Mcnally Announces Release of Updated Routetools(TM) Professional Driver Software

Skokie, Ill., October 30, 2003 - Today's commercial truck drivers rely more than ever on accurate routing information to travel safely and realize more cost savings in order to improve business profits. To assist drivers in meeting these needs, Rand McNally has updated its widely used RouteTools(TM) Professional Driver Edition software, with improvements and updates geared toward enhancing the efficiency of over-the-road professional drivers.
The updated edition of RouteTools software includes more than 200,000 data updates for Quickest Routes to the North American Highway Network, up-to-date information on more than 5,000 truck stops locations and available amenities, as well as updated truck attributes for 48 ft. and 53 ft truck-trailer configurations. References to the 2004 Motor Carriers' Road Atlas have been updated, as well.
Rand McNally has eliminated the licensing fee with the updated RouteTools software. So, once a driver receives a new CD-ROM, they can register the product and load it into a computer for continuous use.
"We were pleased with the initial response to RouteTools,"said Bob Simmons, general manager of Rand McNally's transportation data management subsidiary. "However, we are always seeking ways to improve routing and rating capabilities for commercial truck drivers. This improved edition maintains all the previous features, including RoadWork(TM) construction updates, the ability to create personal fuel networks, and routing restrictions, while adding improvements to make the software easier to use."
