Routing Software allows zones with flexible boundaries.

Press Release Summary:

A.MAZE optimizes routing and scheduling of fleet operations with fuzzy zones, which allow customers to flex zones in response to dynamic demand. This permits users to maintain concept of territories while targeting highest asset utilization. Software represents real life business processes and constraints, while providing optimization flexibility, resulting in utilization of distribution assets with less manual intervention when routing.

A.MAZE's New "Fuzzy Zones" Functionality Provides Route Optimization Between Static and Dynamic Territories

Atlanta, Georgia, January 21, 2003 - GEOCOMtms, architect of the A.MAZE solution that optimizes simultaneously the routing & scheduling of fleet operations, announced today a breakthrough in Fleet routing & Scheduling with the addition of the "fuzzy zones" optimization to its flagship A.MAZE Route application. This allows customers to flex their zones in response to dynamic demand, thus maintaining the concept of territories while targeting highest asset utilization.

"Several customers had pointed out the duality of this routing problem in their operations," stated Mark Wimmer, Director of Services-USA, "The inability of traditional routing software to support the fuzzy zones model has meant costly manual distribution efforts due to rigid, flawed and sub-optimal zone design of fixed routes that has led to significant substandard utilization of distribution assets."

Traditional routing systems have forced users to define fixed zones with rigid boundaries. However, in real life, these boundaries may not be completely rigid. Most of the time, there exist overlaps between territories that can be beneficial. There is always a requirement to assign vehicles or drivers to specific territories, but depending on the volume of orders, the boundaries will move or flex. Defining this flexibility is a very efficient way to optimize assets' allocation."

Bernard Têtu, CEO of GEOCOMtms, added, "The "Fuzzy Zones" functionality allows users to more accurately represent their real life business process and constraints, while providing increased optimization flexibility. Users will benefit from greater utilization of distribution assets with less manual intervention when routing. Moreover, they are also being given an easy and progressive stepping stone when moving from a static routing mode to a dynamic routing environment."

About GEOCOMtms

GEOCOMtms offers through its A.MAZE product suite, a Metasolution that optimizes dynamic fleet routing, scheduling and improves logistics' operations. A.MAZE technology allows to model routing and scheduling constraints, to simulate events to create sequences and schedules, and to optimize the fleet's distribution activities. In addition, it provides Real-Time Feedback and Response (RTFR) through its wireless communication gateway, which allows companies to dynamically and constantly re-schedule and re-optimize their routes according to requests' occurring throughout the day, resulting in an increase in their fleets' efficiencies.

GEOCOMtms operates a network of offices throughout North America with facilities in Atlanta, Boston, Montreal and Toronto. The corporate headquarters are located in Quebec City.
