NKK Now Offers Metal Shaft and Dial Actuators on Dip Rotaries

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Oct. 13, 2006)- NKK Switches, an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of electromechanical switches, expands its FR series of 10mm ultra-thin DIP rotary switches with dial and metal shaft actuator options for through-hole devices.

Previously offered with screwdriver or plastic shaft actuators for through hole devices, the FR's new actuator options enable design flexibility. Dial actuated versions can be adjusted by hand or with a flat tipped screwdriver and have positions clearly and numerically marked. The metal shaft option allows design engineers to choose from various size knobs and multiple colored tips.

The FR series of binary coded DIP rotaries is environmentally friendly and designed to meet the RoHs directive restricting the use of hazardous substances. The heat resistant resin materials are UL94V-0 and suited to lead-free solder processing applications.

Delivering the lowest profile in the industry, these 10mm DIP rotaries have a body dimension of 3.8mm in height, which allows close stacking of PC boards. The FR switches are available in real or complement codes, decimal and hexadecimal configurations. Legends are highly visible to provide trouble free code setting.

Electrical capacity switching rating is 100mA @ 5V DC and non-switching rating is 100mA @ 50V DC. Contact reliability is ensured with a cam-activated movable contact and gold contacts. The detent mechanism provides crisp, positive action and delivers an accurate switch setting.

Available in right angle or straight PC mount, the FR series features crimped terminals to provide secure PC mounting that prevents dislodging during soldering. This series is also available in SMT configurations.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches. The company manufactures more than four million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary and DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches.
