Original Press Release:

Makita's New 1-9/16" SDS-MAX Rotary Hammers With AVT Technology

January 6, 2006 - LA MIRADA, CALIF. - Makita USA, Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories is proud to announce the launch of two new additions to the industrial hammer line, model HR4010C 1-9/16" Rotary Hammer with AVT technology and model HR4001C 1-9/16" Rotary Hammer. AVT is an exclusive counterbalance system engineered internally to reduce vibration up to twice that of competitor hammers - only 4.5 m/s².

Not only are these new rotary hammers powerful at 11.0 AMPS and 9.5 joules (7.0 ft.lbs.) of impact energy, they have synchronized RPM (235 - 480) and BPM (1,350 - 2,750) to prevent overlapping impacts for up to 50% more efficient drilling. A variable speed dial with 5 different preset speeds and electronic speed control minimizes speed loss for 28% faster drilling.

Models HR4010C and HR4001C are versatile, high-powered rotary hammers for heavy-duty applications. Each model features a built-in torque limiter that ensures stable torque control and disengages the motor should the bit bind or hit reinforcements. These new hammers also have precision machined, all metal gears with more surface contact for more power.

The HR4010C weighs only 13.9 lbs. and the HR4001C weighs only 13.0 lbs.; has two options of side handles available (straight and D-shaped), both with rubberized grips; and a large rubberized rear handle; all of which contribute to the overall comfort of the tool. The large variable speed trigger with a lock on button allows for a smooth transition into operation, and can be actuated for long periods of time with little fatigue. L.E.D. service lights indicate when the carbon brushes need changing. Externally accessible brushes make for quick and simple job-site servicing, and the one-touch sliding chuck allows for easy bit changes. These features make the HR4010C and HR4001C more efficient to use and easier to operate and service.
