Rotary Encoders provide 9-bit resolution.

Press Release Summary:

Miniature magnetic encoders are frictionless units available in absolute, incremental, or linear output formats. Speeds of over 30,000 rpm can be achieved with measurement accuracy better than 0.7°. For harsh environments, compact sealed versions offer immunity to IP68. Non-contact design eliminates need for seals or bearings. Encoders come in component, modular, and packaged versions suited for mobility devices, CCTV, medical scanners, and motor feedback.

New Renishaw Miniature Magnetic Rotary Encoders Deliver High Speeds, Reliability, Design Flexibility at Low Cost

October 2003 - Renishaw meets the increasing demand for reliable, low cost, high-speed rotary encoding with a new line of frictionless 9-bit (512 count) miniature magnetic encoders available in industry-standard absolute, incremental or linear output formats. Speeds of over 30,000 rpm can be achieved with measurement accuracy better than 0.7°. Novel non-contact design provides reliable long-term operation by eliminating the need for seals or bearings. For harsh environments, compact sealed versions are also available with immunity to IP68. Easy to integrate, the new mini mag encoders come in component, modular and packaged versions.

Absolute encoders provide 9-bit resolution (512 count) in parallel or serial data formats, while incremental output options include digital (128 ppr), analog, linear voltage and linear current modes. The linear voltage or current output options can be used in traditional potentiometer applications.

Exceptional design flexibility fits a wide range of industries and applications. The Renishaw mini mag encoders have been adopted for mobility devices, marine instrumentation, CCTV, medical scanners, off-road vehicles, valve position control, vending machines, industrial power tools and motor feedback.

Further developments for the new range of magnetic rotary encoders will include higher resolution variants. As with all Renishaw's products, a worldwide application support network and local inventory stocking bring added confidence to system developers.
