Original Press Release:

Cornell and Cookson Introduce the Only Rolling Door Compliant to the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code®

Innovative Design Exceeds Air Infiltration Requirements

Mountain Top, PA – Now, the superior security and durability of a coiling door is available in a unique design that meets the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) air infiltration requirements.

The Cookson Company, Inc. and Cornell Iron Works, Inc., both brands of CIW Enterprises, Inc., have independently tested a patent-pending system that effectively meets the IECC’s air infiltration requirements of less than 1.0 CFM/FT2. Cornell’s Thermiser Max™ and Cookson’s Temp-Master™ Insulated Doors incorporate an exclusive combination of sealing, insulation and thermal breaks to surpass these requirements while maximizing energy efficiency and savings for building owners.

Previously, coiling doors were exempted from this requirement. Now, with adoption of the new energy code, coiling doors can no longer take exception and must demonstrate building code compliance. Only Temp-Master and Thermiser Max Insulated Doors have been proven and labeled to do just that.

Additionally, the components of this patent-pending system may be retrofit onto previously installed coiling doors to decrease air infiltration by up to 85% and greatly enhance the energy efficiency of existing buildings. And, beyond protecting the building envelope, the sealing and sound attenuation capabilities of Thermiser Max and Temp-Master doors may be applied to effectively separate interior spaces to improve employee comfort and quality control.

Cookson and Cornell are leading rolling door manufacturers with facilities in Phoenix, AZ, Gastonia, NC and Mountain Top, PA. Since 1828, the companies that comprise CIW Enterprises, Inc. have time and again demonstrated their commitment to meeting the real needs of the market. Whether seeking quality, performance, reliability or overall satisfaction, customers have always known that they can rely on Cornell and Cookson’s history of innovation.
