Roller Screws handle high loads.

Press Release Summary:

SKF® roller screws, for linear-actuation applications, sustain static loads up to 1,000 tons and dynamic loads up to 200 tons. Planetary roller screws feature threaded nuts, rollers, and screw shafts. Planetary motion eliminates need to recirculate rolling elements, meaning fewer components, smoother operation, and longer life. Recirculating roller screws allow for fine-lead threads, as small as 1 mm, and feature threaded shaft, nut threaded to same lead, and set of grooved rollers.

SKF® Roller Screws for Linear Actuation Handle Heavy Loads and Promote Long Service Life

SKF® roller screws from SKF Motion Technologies (Bethlehem, PA) are designed for demanding linear-actuation applications requiring accuracy, rapid acceleration, fine leads, and high load capacities. These planetary and recirculating roller screws compare favorably with ball screws of similar size, especially in their ability to handle heavier loads and perform over time.

SKF roller screws can sustain static loads up to 1,000 tons and dynamic loads up to 200 tons, which is three times greater dynamic load capacity than comparably sized ball screws. This
translates to at least eight times the practical service life of comparable ball screws.

SKF planetary roller screws feature threaded nuts, rollers, and screw shafts. Planetary roller motion eliminates a need to recirculate the rolling elements, meaning fewer components,
smoother operation and longer life. The planetary timing mechanism enables high acceleration and proper functioning even in harsh conditions. Multiple contact points on each roller contribute to superior load-carrying capacity and life.

SKF recirculating roller screws feature a threaded shaft, a nut threaded to the same lead, and a set of grooved rollers. The rollers recirculate after each revolution within the nut, which
allows for fine-lead threads (as small as 1 mm) that deliver high-precision positioning and maintains high capacity.

SKF Roller Screws are available in various styles and a full range of diameters and leads offering optimum rotational speed and acceleration capabilities. Special surface treatments,
lubrication, solid or hollow screw shafts, and end machining are among customization options.
