NEMA 4X-rated Housings Now Available for MTS R-Series and G-Series Sensors

CARY, N.C. (October 24, 2005)- MTS Systems Corp. Sensors Division now offers NEMA 4X-rated housings for its Temposonics® R-Series and G-Series "rod-style" sensor models, making them ideal for use in sanitary and washdown environments. The new housing means the sensors still provide the same proven non-contact, trouble-free performance recognized throughout the world, but in a housing designed specifically for cylinder feedback, valve positioning and tank level gauging in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, packaging, and power generation industries.

"With our new NEMA 4X housing, engineers designing machinery in industries with sanitary or washdown conditions can now utilize the performance and reliability found in our standard industrial sensors," said David Edeal, Temposonics Marketing Manager. "In addition, our new platform products provide remote programming and diagnostic capabilities to help simplify machine setup and troubleshooting."

Constructed with a Temposonics R-Series or G-Series rod style sensor assembled inside a sealed stainless steel IP 67 housing, the NEMA 4X position sensors offer advantages that enable the customer to choose the specific sensor output configurations required for their application. Serial communication and a simple PC-based user interface enable remote programmability and full diagnostics without the need to compromise the housing's protection rating. R-Series and G-Series sensors programming software is provided by MTS free of charge.

Based on the Temposonics R-Series and G-Series sensors, the NEMA 4X sensor offers various outputs including analog, digital pulse, high speed serial (SSI) and fieldbus outputs such as CANOpen, DeviceNet and Profibus.
