Greenville, Wis. (Feb. 12, 2007) - QComp Technologies, Inc., an authorized ABB robotics integration company, announced today that it will now offer TrueView(TM) vision-guided robotic systems. Developed by robotics manufacturer ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies, the new vision-guided robotic system helps manufacturers achieve high levels of manufacturing efficiencies by allowing robots to see parts in 3D and react in near real-time to dynamic factory environments.

The single-camera 3D vision system combines ABB robots, off-the-shelf hardware and an eVisionFactoryTM (eVFTM) software platform into a fully integrated package. It eliminates the historical installation challenges involved when attempting to combine disparate hardware, software and integration practices into a functional system.

First, the robot is programmed to position the camera and adjust the lighting to an optimal image-capture location. Then the eVF software processes the image and sends the appropriate path adjustment to the robot, which then picks the part.

The TrueView system's unique approach to robotic vision guidance allows for automatic calibration and part training, which in turn shortens solution development and integration lead times and eliminates the need for expensive locating fixtures or precision dunnage for part location.
