Xenia, Ohio (November 10, 2004) --- >SAS< Automation introduces new DX Robotic Gripper Platform for robotic EOAT and end effectors. Developed for heavy and bulky applications, the new frame profile platform is D shaped and allows for 6 - 8 sides for mounting mating robotic components - two more than previously offered in the market, (of the square or rectangular shape).

In addition, two sides are at opposite 45 degree angles which allow greater flexibility in mountings angle, allowing for wide use for almost limitless applications.

Furthermore, the DX profile allows for back-to-back mounting of the D shaped profile in a double D configuration (similar to the letters "db") creating a round or tree trunk "boom" style end effectors; especially common on 5 axis robots & heavier applications. From the main boom mounted to the robotic arm, the flats of the profile can be rotated 90 degrees to allow for tree branch or "cross frame mounting" configurations. When in the "boom" configuration, 8 mounting sides are possible, with four on 45 degree angles.

Finally, all sides have X nut channels to accept SAS's full line of gripper components such as mounting clamps, fixed or spring loaded gripper arms, vacuum cups, gripper fingers, parallel / angular grippers, and sensors. This allows for the full utilization and compatibility for ease of use and "plug & play" in many applications throughout the world with SAS modular gripper components.
