Dubai - UAE, - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced a new solution that will allow organizations using SAP® applications to improve application performance while simplifying branch office infrastructure.
By running a virtual instance of the accelerated application delivery solution for the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform - which provides access to enterprise applications from remote locations - on the Riverbed® Services Platform (RSP), enterprises will obtain SAP solution-specific acceleration on top of the award-winning WAN optimization capabilities of the Riverbed Steelhead® appliance.
By running a virtual instance of the accelerated application delivery solution with the RSP, customers can consolidate IT resources at the branch office while optimizing performance for end users around the globe looking to access business-critical SAP applications. In addition, to support customers taking advantage of the solution, the Riverbed Steelhead appliance running RiOS® version 6.0 has been certified by SAP for integration with SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
Many organizations have implemented network infrastructure at remote sites to improve the performance of their global deployments of SAP solutions. To enable end users worldwide to access Web-based SAP applications at LAN-like speed, many organizations leverage accelerated application delivery for SAP NetWeaver. However, most global enterprises have a varied combination of network traffic from a variety of additional applications that benefit from WAN optimization. To improve the performance of business-critical applications from SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), enterprises will now be able to take advantage of the complementary capabilities of accelerated application delivery from SAP and award-winning Riverbed WAN optimization.
Accelerated application delivery will work on top of the RSP, which is a virtualized, extensible data services platform that allows customers to deploy best-of-breed edge services as virtual appliances. Organizations can deploy these virtual appliances, such as accelerated application delivery for SAP NetWeaver, directly on RSP to minimize the hardware infrastructure footprint at the branch office, which reduces costs in operational overhead.
The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) has certified that the Riverbed Steelhead appliance running RiOS version 6.0 integrates with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 via the network performance optimization for enterprise SOA-based solutions (ESOA-AW-PO) integration scenario 1.0.
