Ride a Bike with ASK Contactless Technology and JCDecaux

Lyon Finds New Mobility With Fast, Convenient and Environmentally-Friendly Transport for the City

PARIS, November 28 -- ASK contactless technology has been selected by JCDecaux to run its Cyclocity bike rental application in the Greater Lyon area, France. More than 2000 bikes are available from velo'v rental kiosks located at strategic points in the city.

High-tech, reliable and modern

Customers rent velo'v bikes using an application based on ASK contactless technology: contactless smart cards for long-term subscribers, contactless paper tickets for short-term use, and a new Ticket Dispensing Machine for a high-tech, reliable and modern urban experience.

Long-term contactless convenience

For 5 years, ASK has been providing contactless Tecely cards for the city of Lyon, where cardholders use a single multi-modal card to ride buses, tramways and the Metro. Tecely cardholders can now use the same card to rent velo'v bikes. Customers who do not have a Tecely card are simply issued with C.ticket(R), ASK contactless paper ticket at velo'v kiosks.

"JCDecaux's new service is a real treat in large cities where traffic jams, pollution and stress tend to increase every day" says Jean Sureaud, Sales Manager at ASK. "Greater Lyon and JCDecaux, the world number 2 outdoor advertising company, have worked to pioneer a new type of mobility in the city, and we are proud to be involved in this successful project."

Worldwide application

ASK's contactless Automatic Fare Collection technology is used in mass transit applications worldwide*. "For every module of this system, we aim to work with well-known partners, each an expert in their respective domain. ASK's experience with contactless cards and hardware, and its successful record with mass transit applications, is exactly what we are looking for. The timely arrival of ASK's new Ticket Dispenser Machine for contactless paper tickets was clearly a factor in our decision" says Jacques Le Gars, New technologies Director at JCDecaux.

* ASK contactless products are based on a unique technology of silver-ink silk-screen printed antenna on a paper substrate.
