Rheometer measures soft substances.
Press Release Summary:
Model R/S-SST Soft Solids Tester measures yield behavior in gels, pastes and liquid/semi-solid materials with suspended particles. It quantifies viscoelastic properties such as wobbliness, sloppiness, consistency and texture. Data is recorded and analyzed using Rheo 2000 software. Performance limits can be placed on graphed data, allowing immediate visual pass/fail determination. Shear stress range depends on choice of spindle; it covers 6.4 to 4,040 Pa.

Brookfield Introduces A New "Soft Solids Tester" The R/S-SST Rheometer
Middleboro, MA - Brookfield Engineering Laboratories, the world leader in viscosity measurement and control, introduces a new "Soft Solids Tester" which measures yield behavior in gels, pastes and liquid/semi-solid materials with suspended particles. The Brookfield R/S-SST, part of the R/S Rheometer family, features the ability to operate in both controlled stress and controlled rate modes. Vane spindles are used with this instrument to provide both viscosity and shear stress measurements.
Vane spindle geometry allows spindle insertion into the material without compromising sample structure. This rheometer has quick connect coupling for rapid attachment of the spindles. The head of the R/S-SST rheometer can be adjusted to proper height by easily sliding it up and down under manual control. The base has adjustable clamp holders for positioning and fixing the sample in place during testing.
The SST quantifies viscoelastic properties such as wobbliness, sloppiness, consistency and texture. Data is recorded and analyzed using Rheo 2000 Software in conjunction with the Soft Solids Module. The "quality control mode" enables performance limits to be placed on the graphed data, thereby allowing immediate visual inspection for pass/fail determination.
The shear stress range depends on choice of spindle. Brookfield offers a broad range capability from 6.4 Pa to 4,040 Pa.
