AVX'S New 0603 RF Capacitor Provides Highest Q, Lowest ESR Available

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (August 16, 2005) -AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components, has developed a porcelain and ceramic dielectric multilayer capacitor (MLC) that provides industry-leading performance for high Q, low ESR, and high self-resonance in an 0603 package with voltages up to 250 VDC. Designated the SQCS Series and offering the best electrical performance available in this package size, the chips are ideal for RF/microwave applications ranging from 1 MHz to 10 GHz, including power amplifiers, filters, low-noise amplifiers and GPS.

"The new design provides higher Q and lower ESR at a lower cost than other capacitors on the market," said Larry Eisenberger, AVX product manager. "The SQCS combines high Q and low ESR with NPO characteristics in the popular 0603 chip size."

Because the SQCS Series demonstrates NPO characteristics, it is ideal for applications where performance needs to be maintained despite the possibility of extreme temperature changes. The capacitor has an operating range of -55° C to + 125°C.

The SQCS Series has a capacitance range of 0.1 pF to 100 pF.

Pricing for the SQCS Series ranges from $0.04 to $0.50, depending on volume and tolerance. Delivery is stock to six weeks.
