Retro-Reflector triples LCD performance.

Press Release Summary:

Boomerang LCD reflective technology is composed of wide-angle, retro-reflective micro-lenses mounted to rear surface of LCD glass panel. Boomerang reflects most incident light directly back along its path, and is certified to meet ANSI/ISEA 107-1999 Level 2 and EN 471 Class 2 retro-reflective performance. When illuminating device from off-axis direction in poorly lit conditions, reflected light is beamed back in direction of light source.

Boomerang Retro-Reflector Triples LCD Performance

Santa Fe Springs, December, 2001: "Boomerang" is a newly developed LCD reflective technology that is composed of wide-angle, retro-reflective micro-lenses mounted to the rear surface of the LCD glass panel. Considered to be the brightest reflective displays available on the market, Densitron's
newest display technology, "Boomerang", can be fitted to almost any reflective LCD to enhance readability in many applications. Boomerang works in the same way as other reflectors in that it is
fitted behind a liquid crystal display to reflect ambient light, but by using a novel arrangement of micro-reflectors the reflected light is at least tripled in the direction of the incident light.

Boomerang reflects most of the incident light directly back along its path, and is certified to meet ANSI/ISEA 107-1999 Level 2 and EN 471 Class 2 retro-reflective performance. Boomerang not only increases the apparent brightness of the panel, it also increases dramatically the viewing angle of the
display. In addition, when illuminating the device from an off-axis direction the reflected light is beamed back in the direction of the light source. This can be especially useful in poorly lit conditions where, for example, domestic utility meters tend to be installed. In trials, Densitron claims that a regular LCD panel - almost useless under these conditions - can be totally transformed by fitting a Boomerang reflector in place of the standard LCD reflector. Boomerang can be applied to any of Densitron's standard LCD modules or incorporated into custom LCD glass designs or modules.
