Viking Launches New Freedom® Residential Concealed Sprinkler
Hastings, Michigan - The Viking Corporation, a global leader in fixed fire protection technology, has extended its leading Freedom® line of residential fire protection products with the introduction of an all-new 4.9 (71) K factor residential flat plate concealed sprinkler (VK456). With its many installation, aesthetic, and performance benefits, this new cULus listed sprinkler is the first residential concealed pendent to exceed the expectations of designers, architects, and installers.
The system designer will appreciate up to 20 x 20 ft (6,1 x 6,1 m) coverage areas and industry leading flow characteristics at 14 x 14 ft (4,3 x 4,3 m) and 18 x 18 ft (5,5 x 5,5 m) room sizes. Additionally, the new sprinkler's 4.9 (71) K factor enables lower pressures than the competition's 4.3 K factor product.
Aesthetically, the new Freedom® concealed sprinkler offers the most attractive, least noticeable installed appearance. At 2 ¾ inches (70 mm) in diameter, the VK456 flat cover plate is the smallest available in the industry. And, the sprinkler is available in four standard finishes (white, ivory, chrome, and black), as well as, over 800 customer colors.
The new VK456 sprinkler was also designed with the installer in mind. Larger threads on the inside of the sprinkler cup provide for an easy "push on, thread off" cover plate, while also protecting the threads from drywall mud, paint, and other debris. Additionally, Viking's innovative "limited use" head wrench doubles as a protective cap remover when attached to a length of one inch (DN25) CPVC pipe, allowing an installer to remove the caps without climbing up a ladder.
