Rehm Rewarded Again at Nepcon Shanghai!

The team at Rehm Thermal Systems has been celebrating its EM Asia Innovation award win at Nepcon Shanghai. The win for Pyrolysis comes on the back of their NPI award win at Apex.

Sponsored by EM Asia Magazine, the Awards are designed to recognize leading new products during the past 12 months. An independent panel of practicing industry engineers selected recipients. The Pyrolysis Uniquely effective Flux Residue Management Solution for Reflow Soldering Processes was selected by the judges as the best in its Soldering Systems, Integrated subsystems.  The award was presented to Rehm's President Johannes Rehm and Asian General Manager, Johnson Ma during a ceremony held on Wednesday 24th April in Shanghai.

Flux residues are difficult solder reflow byproducts to manage, requiring extended maintenance time to eliminate process chamber and product contamination.  High speed, high volume production environments are especially difficult, vaporizing gallons of VOCs per day that must be eliminated.  Rehm's Pyrolysis is the thermally induced decomposition of organic compounds.  Complex molecules are broken down into simpler substances with the use of high temperatures (500-900°C) taking place in a largely oxygen free (anaerobic) environment to avoid burning. By splitting long molecular chains into shorter ones, Pyrolysis significantly reduces the amount of condensable waste and unwanted dripping within the process chamber.  Remaining residues are captured within a special granulate, making the system virtually maintenance-free, requiring only an exchange of granulate every 12 months. Rehm's complete residue management system combines Pyrolysis action mechanisms in the preheating and peak zones with cold condensation in the cooling zone.  In this manner the amount of liquid residues and crystalline residues are both dramatically reduced.  Carried-over heat is minimized by isolating residue management in the heating and cooling zones. This prevents energy waste and results in better cooling performance. As a result, the oven achieves a higher efficiency than other techniques, providing both a cleaner process chamber and greatly extended maintenance intervals.  A reduction of the maintenance expenses up to 50% can be achieved.

Commenting on the Pyrolysis recent industry accolade, Johannes Rehm explains: "We are thrilled to have received this award which follows our success earlier this year at Apex. We really believe that the Pyrolysis addresses both environmental issues and cost of ownership, productivity challenges which are increasingly significant to Asian manufacturers."
