Recovery From Data Loss Now Simpler and Faster with New Bare Metal Recovery/Local Archive Option from SonicWALL

Enhancement to Continuous Data Protection Suite Helps Improve and Streamline Data Recovery for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 27 / -- SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNWL) today announced that it has added bare-metal recovery and local archiving options to its Continuous Data Protection (CDP) solutions, providing a fast, automated method of reducing downtime after data loss.

The addition of bare-metal recovery to SonicWALL CDP addresses channel and end-user demand for simple solutions that reduce the risk and cost of downtime and speed time to recovery. Using SonicWALL Bare Metal/Local Archiving, administrators can recover an entire system through a simple management interface. Users are able to restore the operating system, settings and applications of workstations and servers in minutes as opposed to days. Users can also locally archive just the data partition of their servers, thus providing a single point in time (SPIT) image of data their network.

Bare Metal/Local Archiving is the newest enhancement to SonicWALL CDP solutions, launched in February this year following the company's November 2005 acquisition of Lasso Logic. Designed for small and mid-sized organizations, SonicWALL CDP solutions deliver simple, comprehensive and cost-effective secure backup that avoids the complexity and inefficiency of tape, and provides easy recovery of data in the event of disasters. The solution features secure automatic, disk to disk local and offsite data protection, instant recovery and central or remote administrative capabilities.

SonicWALL Bare Metal Recovery/Local Archiving allows IT administrators to create an exact disk image for complete system backup, so that data important to the business is not lost as a result of theft, system crashes or viruses. The backup file includes all hard disk data including the operating system files, programs and user settings. After a system crash, users can recover specific files or folders, or the complete system, all through a common wizard interface. Key to this solution is the ability to create a snapshot of the data and system for archiving, which also helps users maintain compliance with various regulatory requirements.

"Bare Metal Recovery is a powerful enhancement to an already outstanding product set and our end-users are excited about adding this feature to their business continuity plans," said Benjamin Aronson of SonicWALL reseller Aronson & Associates. "This enhancement will certainly improve total effectiveness and reliability of data protection and recovery."

"No solution on the market today provides the same end-to-end data protection for the SMB market as SonicWALL CDP," said Steve Goodman, vice president, SonicWALL CDP business. "It is a complete appliance solution that is even more compelling with the addition of Bare Metal Recovery/Local Archiving. We and our channel are excited about this opportunity to make it even simpler for businesses of all sizes to protect their data."

SonicWALL's Bare Metal/Local Archiving solution for servers and workstations is based on Acronis True Image technology from Acronis, Inc., the technological leader in storage management software known for reliability, ease-of-use and advanced feature-set.

SonicWALL Bare Metal Recovery is available now. Prices for SonicWALL Bare Metal/Local Archiving start at $299.00 for the server version and at $30.00 for a single workstation license.
