ADMET Introduces Gauge Buster Recorder to Capture Transient Waveforms Over Short Time Durations

Samples waveforms up to 4,096 times per second...

NORWOOD, Mass. - Sept. 14, 2004 - ADMET(TM) Inc., a provider of integrated materials testing systems, today introduced a specialized version of its Gauge Buster force/stress and displacement indicator called Gauge Buster Recorder. Designed to capture rapidly moving waveforms by sampling data up to 4,096 times per second, it can be used for a range of applications, such as calibrating soil asphalt compaction machines, measuring crush rates of automotive components, measuring the deceleration profile of shock absorbers and other applications.

The Gauge Buster Recorder features a 4,096 Hz sampling rate, user programmable lograte, and comes with a remote push-button to trigger the start of a recording. It features a 24-bit Analog-to-Digital converter for high accuracy measurements that exceed ASTM E4 specifications and can store up to 32,767 points per waveform. The Gauge Buster Recorder is powered by an AC wall adapter or optionally can be purchased as a battery powered instrument with rugged carrying case. In either configuration its small size and ruggedness make it ideal for quality audits for factory or field work.

The Gauge Buster Recorder monitors and records data quickly, easily, and accurately. The alphanumeric display is easy to read and offers prompts for setup and operation. It displays peak and live force simultaneously. ADMET's WinCom PLUS Data Communications Program is provided with the Gauge Buster Recorder so waveforms can be quickly uploaded into a Windows-based PC/laptop for viewing of force/stress vs. time or force/stress vs. displacement curves. WinCom PLUS also displays up to ten waveforms at one time on the same set of graph axes and saves all recorded data in ASCII delimited format for further review and analysis in common spreadsheet programs.

"The Gauge Buster Recorder is another example of a specialized digital indicator built for a specific set of applications," said Richard Gedney, ADMET founder and president. "By modifying the firmware in our standard Gauge Buster to obtain high sampling rates, we are able to offer an instrument that accurately measures fast moving or transient waveforms. Its ease-of-use and ruggedness result in a system of unrivaled price/performance."

Gauge Buster Recorder is available immediately directly from ADMET, as well as from ADMET representatives and calibrators, for prices starting at $2,000. Numerous accessories are also available, including pressure transducers, load cells and an optional quadrature encoder input for measuring displacement. It is also available in a battery operated version for portable and remote applications.
