Raritan and TYAN Computer Introduce New Technologies Leveraging AMD's Open-Platform Ecosystem

SOMERSET, N.J. and FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 15 // -- Raritan and TYAN Computer, who are both AMD (NYSE:AMD) ecosystem providers, today announced the availability of new technologies that together deliver advanced built-in remote server management capabilities, which help improve the manageability of enterprise IT systems, lower total cost of ownership and prevent system downtime.

TYAN unveiled the TYAN S2912 motherboard and Raritan introduced a compatible OPMA - (Open Platform Management Architecture) based remote management card.

Servers equipped with the new Raritan OPMA M3-G4 management card - which has been optimized for use on the TYAN S2912's OPMA connector - can be managed from any Internet connection through secure, always-available, out-of-band access. The Raritan card provides high-performance KVM-over-IP, remote power control and supports virtual media that covers a broad range of mass storage emulation variations -- including virtual-floppy emulation, CD/DVD-drive emulation and, even, direct mass-storage redirection. It also provides valuable server health performance information, such as the status of a server's memory, CPU temperature and fan speed. In addition, the management card supports IPMI 2.0, SMASH CLP and WS-MAN.

The TYAN S2912 motherboard supports up to two AMD Opteron(TM) dual core 2000 series processors. Based on NVIDIA's nForce 3600 server chipset, the TYAN S2912 motherboard supports up to 32GB of DDR RAM, includes integrated VGA, a SAS controller, a SATA2 controller and dual GbE. In addition, the S2912 includes an OPMA slot for extensive high-performance server management.
