Ramtron Highlights New FRAM-Enhanced(TM) Strategy, Showcasing Its Integrated Products at the Electronica 2006 Trade Fair in Munich, Germany

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - October 24, 2006 - Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR), a leading developer and supplier of nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) and integrated semiconductor products, today announced that it will showcase its new FRAM-Enhanced(TM) FM3130 Processor Companion, two new 512-kilobit serial FRAM memory devices, the FM25L512 and FM24C512, as well as the FM20L08, a 1-megabit parallel FRAM device, at the Electronica 2006 Trade Fair (booth A5.321). Ramtron will also present at the show the VRS51L3074, the first FRAM-Enhanced(TM) 8051-based microcontroller. Electronica 2006 will take place from November 14 to 17 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany.

Ramtron will feature the following live presentations at its booth throughout the show: "FRAM Technology: Today and Tomorrow" and "Technical Review of the VRS51L3074: The first 8051-based Microcontroller with FRAM."

"Electronica is the ideal forum to demonstrate our latest generation of FRAM memory and FRAM-Enhanced(TM) integrated products to design engineers developing intensive data collection and storage systems," says Ramtron Vice President Mike Alwais. "Collecting critical data at bus speed, virtually unlimited endurance and low power, FRAM is being embedded into more and more designs that require rapid and frequent data writes, in an array of applications from meters and industrial controls to computing and automotive systems."

FM3130 Processor Companion

The FM3130 is a FRAM-Enhanced(TM) 64-kilobit, 3V Processor Companion product that combines all the benefits of nonvolatile RAM with an integrated real-time clock (RTC) in a single 8-pin package. The RTC features an alarm and a programmable frequency clock output and uses a common 12pF watch crystal. The device is available in a standard 150-mil SOIC package and a tiny DFN (dual flat no-lead) package that is footprint-compatible with TSSOP8s. The FM3130 has been streamlined to reduce system cost and board space in consumer and computing applications, supporting commonly-needed system functions in products such as printers and high-definition televisions (HDTVs) without the need for discrete components.

VRS51L3074 FRAM-Enhanced(TM) MCU

The VRS51L3074 is the first 8051-based microcontroller with FRAM memory. Ramtron has added 8KB of FRAM memory to its fast and flexible Versa 8051s for quick and reliable nonvolatile data storage and a processing system that only a FRAM-Enhanced(TM) MCU can provide.

FM25L512 and FM24C512 Serial FRAM

The FM25L512 is a 512-kilobit serial peripheral interface (SPI) FRAM that operates at 3V and runs at up to 20MHz. The device provides increased data collection and storage capacity in a tiny, 8-pin DFN package that is footprint-compatible with standard 150-mil SOIC packages, cutting costs and board space in applications from multi-function printers to industrial motor controllers.

The FM24C512 is a 512-kilobit 2-wire serial FRAM that operates at 5V and runs at up to 1MHz. The FM24C512 is available in an 8-pin EIAJ SOIC and is targeted for use in applications that require high capacity data collection, such as utility metering and real-time configuration storage.

FM20L08 Parallel FRAM

The FM20L08 is Ramtron's highest-density FRAM memory to date. This product is a drop-in replacement for standard asynchronous SRAMs, targeting data collection and storage systems in which power levels can vary or be suddenly lost, such as set-top boxes, automotive telematics and industrial applications.
