Original Press Release:

Ultra Low Noise Rail-to-Rail Op Amp Has 1.6GHz Gain Bandwidth Product

MILPITAS, CA - June 17, 2003 - Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LT6200-10 and the LT6200-5 ultra low noise (0.95nV/rtHz) rail-to-rail input and output operational amplifiers. The LT6200-10 features a 1.6GHz gain bandwidth product, 450V/us slew rate and is stable at gains of ten or higher. The LT6200-5 features an 800MHz gain-bandwidth product, 250V/us slew rate and is stable at gains of five or higher.

The LT6200-10 and LT6200-5 are ideal for use as ultra low noise preamplifiers in low voltage signal conditioning systems where the widest dynamic range is necessary. The combination of ultra low noise and low distortion, wide gain bandwidth and high slew rate coupled with low DC errors make the devices suitable for use in areas such as medical diagnostics, communications and opto-electronics.

"The LT6200-10 and LT6200-5 are the industry's only high-speed ultra low noise operational amplifiers that work on a single 3V supply, allowing low noise designs to be implemented on low voltage power supplies," according to design manager, Bill Jett. "Existing op amps with similar noise performance require dual supply operation and lack rail-to-rail performance. Maximum signal-to-noise ratio and maximum signal dynamic range is achieved with the LT6200-10 and LT6200-5 because of the parts' rail-to-rail input common mode range and rail-to-rail output voltage swing."

Operating on either single or split supplies from 2.5V to 12.6V total, the LT6200-10 and the LT6200-5 feature a shutdown pin that reduces supply current to less than 1.8mA during standby conditions. Fully specified for operation over the industrial and commercial temperature ranges, the devices are offered in the 6-pin SOT-23 and the 8-pin SOIC packages. Pricing starts at $1.50 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
