Midland's Debuts New Weather/Hazard Radio

WR-30 monitors NOAA frequencies for weather and security alerts using SAME (Specific Area Message Encoder) technology.

Kansas City--Midland Radio Corporation has announced the introduction of a new weather/hazard alert radio...the WR-30 Digital Weather Radio. The WR-30 is a state-of-the-art radio using SAME (Specific Area Message Encoder) V1.3 Technology to pinpoint alert areas. WR-30 owners can program their radio for up to 20 specific geographic alert areas or a little as a single county. Users will be notified of weather or national security alerts only in those pre-determined locales.

To augment the audible broadcast alert, a large alphanumeric readout displays up to 56 different types of weather and security watches and warnings. In addition, the WR-30 features three front-mounted alert indicators that advise the degree of alert (green-statement, yellow-watch and red-warning).

The WR-30, which can be wall-mounted, is also a digital FM clock radio with five-station memory. The radio will automatically switch from FM to weather/hazard when an alert signal is received.

The WR-30 radio is only 7" W x 2" H x 5" D and uses standard AC power. Backup power is provided by four AA batteries (not included). The WR-30 can also be powered from 12-volt automotive and marine power sources with an optional DC power cord. Other available accessories include an external antenna, strobe light to give a visual warning for the hearing-impaired and a pillow vibrator. The MSRP for the WR-30 (batteries not included) is $79.95.
