RAD and Ceragon Demonstrate New Cost-Effective Microwave Solution for All-IP Mobile Backhaul Networks at Mobile World Congress

Industry Leaders to Hold Live Carrier Ethernet Traffic Demo in Hall 01, Stand 1D01

TEL AVIV, Israel, February 5 / - Ceragon Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ and TASE: CRNT), a leading provider of high-capacity wireless backhaul solutions, and RAD Data Communications, a leading provider of access solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced a joint solution that delivers optimal mobile backhaul networking by leveraging Ceragon's high-capacity microwave and RAD's optimized mobile transport platform. The joint solution helps operators reduce the Total Cost of Migration (TCM) of mobile backhaul networks to IP through enhanced network utilization and lower equipment costs.

The combination of RAD's ACE multiservice access concentrator and ETX Ethernet intelligent demarcation device and Ceragon's FibeAir® IP-MAX2 offers high-capacity wireless transport native in both Ethernet and TDM and traffic classification tools, including pseudowires, for delivering optimized TDM and ATM over packet and circuit-switched networks. The solution also enables higher network resources utilization through service multiplexing, Class of Service (CoS) based classification, traffic scheduling and more.

Optimizing the number of E1/T1s and their associated costs alleviates the need for sizable cross connects, since some or all of the TDM/ATM traffic is terminated and carried over the packet network. This translates into lower OPEX and CAPEX by significantly reducing the number of cables and patch panels, as well as shelf space, while improving service provisioning.

"The primary driver for transitioning to Ethernet backhaul remains reducing the cost per transported bit," explains Michael Howard, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "Considering the exponential rise in backhaul traffic and that the proportion of cell sites being served by microwave is expected to grow in the next few years, the combination of pseudowire access technologies with microwave Ethernet should prove attractive to many operators."

"Mobile operators are seeking solutions that enable them to deliver greater amounts of bandwidth at little incremental cost, and the joint Ceragon-RAD solution gives them that and more," explained Gaby Junowicz, Director of Business Development for Cellular Networks at RAD Data Communications. "Adding high-capacity wireless Ethernet to our product mix will empower our customers with a tool for expanding their networks and reach locations where trenching is too expensive," he added. "This completes our IP backhaul offering and enables RAD to offer cellular backhauling over any infrastructure."

"Our joint go-to-market offering will help operators achieve lower costs of network migration to all IP, regardless of their migration strategy," said Aviv Ronai, Chief Marketing Officer at Ceragon Networks. "Our market-leading wireless Ethernet solutions offer the highest levels of spectral efficiency through our unique adaptive modulation and other advanced features," he noted. "Together with RAD we bring a consistent, verified and migration-ready tool kit enabling our customers to choose the solution that fits their network requirements best."

About the Joint Offering Demonstration
At the Mobile World Congress 2008, RAD and Ceragon will demonstrate real-life IP-migration use cases to deliver TDM, ATM and Ethernet traffic over a single microwave link. Using Ceragon's Native2 concept, RAD's will employ standardized pseudowire mechanisms and unique traffic optimization, allowing for high-speed data over Ethernet with simultaneous TDM transport for critical services. In addition, the demo will present RAD's clock recovery and synchronization features in conjunction with Ceragon's high capacity and low delay native Ethernet microwave Link.

The demonstration will be held throughout the Mobile World Congress show, which will be held February 11-14 in Barcelona. RAD and Ceragon will be exhibiting in Hall 01, Stand 1D01.
