Emerson Network Power Increases Capacity and Flexibility of Liebert GXT Rack-Mount UPS

The product is one of several new offerings that will be on display at Emerson's AdaptiveXchange 2006(TM), October 18-19 in Columbus, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio [August 30, 2006] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), announced a new higher-capacity version of the Liebert GXT UPS. Configurable as a tower or rack-mount model, the 10 kVA Liebert GXT delivers online double-conversion UPS protection for up to 8,000 Watts of equipment in just 6U of rack space. Paralleling capabilities allowing multiple units to work together to deliver 16,000 Watts of protection for high density racks are scheduled to be available toward the end of 2006.

The higher capacity and increased flexibility of the new Liebert GXT increase the ability of IT and network managers to adapt to the requirements of new applications. VoIP and Power over Ethernet (PoE), in particular, are driving power and availability requirements to unprecedented levels in network closets and equipment rooms. Paralleling capabilities available toward the end of 2006 will allow the GXT to be configured as a 16 KW system, or as 1+1 or 2+1 parallel redundant system.

"Network convergence is driving increased power requirements and higher availability levels for IP switches in network closets and equipment rooms," said Kevin McCalla, Liebert marketing director, uninterruptible power systems. "The Liebert GXT provides our customers with the power to meet those requirements by combining the high availability of online double conversion technology with the flexibility of Liebert Adaptive Architecture(TM)."

Additional product features of the Liebert GXT include:

Dual inverter - The Liebert GXT automatically detects the input phase angle and adapts the output voltage to 208/120 or 240/120 VAC without the need to select any voltage taps.
Modular system design - An integrated maintenance bypass function in the 6U cabinet allows complete removal of the power module and battery modules for service or maintenance.
Wider input voltage window minimizes battery use - Allows the UPS to support the critical load without having to transfer to battery, extending system availability for when battery back-up is truly needed.
Automatic frequency detection - Detects and matches line input frequencies of either 50 or 60 Hz.
Self-diagnostics - Automatically tests unit electronics and batteries to simplify maintenance and troubleshooting. Automatically detects connection of extended battery cabinets and adjusts the reported battery runtime based on the number of extended battery cabinets installed.
Additional runtime with 4U battery cabinets - Uses up to four cabinets for extended battery runtime for applications that require longer backup time. Includes rear panel connection for plug-n-play connection additional battery cabinets.
Built-in serial communications for use with Liebert MultiLink(TM) Automated Shutdown Software - Allows UPS status reporting and automatic orderly shutdown of assigned computers. Suitable for a single workstation or a network of servers.
Intellislot(TM) communications port - Utilizes Liebert OpenComms® Web Card to provide SNMP and web-based management to the UPS. The card provides power to monitor and control the UPS from not only the network management station, but from any PC running Microsoft® Internet Explorer(TM).
Built-in closure signals - Provides notification to monitoring systems of operating conditions including: on battery, low battery, on battery shutdown and any mode shutdown.
Remote shutdown capability - Remote emergency power off connection located on rear of unit, can be triggered from a normally open or normally closed signal.
Unrestricted ventilation - Front to back airflow moves air out the rear of the unit.
Windows-based configuration program - Allows various operating parameters to be adjusted and tests to be scheduled. This capability enables end users to customize the Liebert GXT's performance to specific requirements, providing a new level of power protection, control and adaptability.
Two-year warranty - Provides peace-of-mind protection with no hassle UPS replacement warranty.
