Superior Quality Rack Dies Deliver Long-Life and Consistent Performance

Glendale Heights, IL.... OSG Tap & Die offers a complete line of superior quality Rack Dies manufactured to customers' exacting specifications and applications. Designed for the demands of the automotive industry, OSG Rack Dies are perfect for rolled parts such as driveshafts, CV joints and transmission shafts where precision splines and worm gears are required. OSG has also broken new ground in the field of simultaneous thread and spline rolling rack dies, which can substantially lower manufacturing costs for rolled part manufacturers. OSG manufactures all rack dies sizes, up to 60 inches in length.

OSG utilizes state-of-the-art in-house heat treating and special testing machines to develop rack dies that will meet or exceed customers' rolling requirements. Based on each individual application, OSG manufactures rack dies from a variety of materials including D2, premium tool steel and high speed steels such as M2 and M42. Thickness tolerances are held to +/- 0.0004" (2 microns), which minimizes set up time since no shimming is necessary. This precision and quality facilitates extended tool life, and minimizes tooling cost per part.

In addition to manufacturing, OSG offers complete re-grinding services to get maximum life and optimum performance from your rack dies. During OSG's meticulous re-grinding process, to maintain the original thickness, OSG attaches shims and re-grinds the rack dies to +/- 0.0004" (2 microns) thickness tolerance.
