Quantance Ramps Production of Q845 qBoost Envelope Tracking Power Supply

Highly Efficient, Low Noise, Single-Chip Solution Available to Meet Early 2013 Demand in ET Market

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Quantance Inc., manufacturer of ultra-fast, 4G/LTE envelope tracking (ET) power supplies, today announced it has begun production of the Q845 qBoost(TM) ET Power Supply and expects the single-chip solution to be available in high volume in Q1 2013. In order to meet demands of the exploding market for ET in 4G/LTE mobile platforms and devices, Quantance drove this chip from initial tape out to production in less than one year.

Throughout 2012, Quantance sampled the Q845 to almost all major baseband/transceiver chipset providers and handset OEMs. This has resulted in a major supply contract and several orders for Q845 shipments. Demand for the Q845 has accelerated because its patented qBoost ET technology makes the Q845 the only production-ready single chip ET solution available today that supports 20MHz LTE operation, meets all system noise requirements and offers efficient instantaneous boosting.

Unlike most other solutions that require complicated digital pre-distortion (DPD) software in the mobile baseband or transceiver, the Q845 supports it, but does not require DPD or any other special software to deliver its industry leading performance - no complicated software, no resource-intensive software development and no extra memory. As a result, the Q845 dramatically simplifies ET integration in 4G/LTE RF front ends compared to other ET implementations.

"Having an industry-leading chip in production and available for this exciting ET market means we can deliver on our existing commitments and are poised to win additional ET sockets at several major mobile device providers," said Vikas Vinayak, Quantance CEO. "Because the Q845 chip is easy to integrate, the roll out of our ET technology in smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices is simple and quick. This will further extend our leadership position."

Quantance's patented qBoost ET technology is a unique boosting ET architecture that enables power amplifier (PA) efficiency to reach theoretical limits, and at the same time, dramatically increases PA transmit power. This architecture delivers the response time equivalent of a 400MHz switcher for ET systems - making the Q845 more than 100 times faster than any other mobile ET power supply solution available today. This ultra-fast performance, along with a standards-based interface and tiny application footprint, sets the industry standard for performance, size and integration simplicity.
