QNAP Updates QuTScloud Cloud NAS: Adds Support for Storage Pass-through, and More Cloud Services (OVHcloud, JustVPS, and IONOS)

Taipei, Taiwan, March 16, 2021 – QNAP® Systems, Inc. (QNAP) today updated their Cloud NAS operating system QuTScloud to version c4.5.4, with key new features including pass-through storage support and availability on OVHcloud, JustVPS, and IONOS cloud services.

Storage pass-through for enhanced QuTScloud performance

The QuTScloud virtual appliance can be deployed to on-premises hypervisors (VMware®, Hyper-V®, and more) to form a virtual NAS. Besides configuring virtual disks, users can now pass-through physical disks (both on a host server and JBOD) to the QuTScloud virtual NAS for enhanced performance by omitting a layer of abstraction in the file system. This is especially useful for intensive I/O applications – for example, in a Hyper-V environment not only the host server drives but also the connected QNAP SAS storage expansion enclosure drives (TL-R1620Sep-RP and TL-R1220Sep-RP) can be passed-through to QuTScloud for direct raw disk access.

Support for more global cloud services/platforms

QuTScloud adds support for OVHcloud, JustVPS, IONOS, and is now available on Exoscale’s Marketplace.

“Since we released our Cloud NAS solution, we have seen a steady worldwide increase in QuTScloud adoption and positive user feedback on cloud NAS flexibility, scalability, and efficiency,” said Haru Lin, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “We continue to extend our global reach within the Cloud NAS industry, and are thrilled to expand our partnership with OVHcloud, the European leader of cloud computing and a global hyper-scale cloud provider, to assist European organizations in implementing multi-cloud strategies for business transformation and agility.”

QuTScloud provides users with a near-identical user experience and feature set as QTS, the QNAP NAS operating system. The inclusive App Center offers a wide range of free and premium apps for boosting cloud NAS functionality and adding more features. Key features of QuTScloud include:

  • Easily access files using CIFS/SMB, NFS, AFP, and iSCSI protocols.
  • Mount data to QuTScloud instance from major cloud storage (via HBSHybridMount or VJBOD Cloud).
  • Streamline backup and restoration processes with snapshots and versioning.
  • Quickly find files with Qsirch – QNAP’s comprehensive search engine.
