NKK Switches Announces YB Series Panel-Sealed Pushbutton Switches
Scottsdale, Ariz. (May 11, 2004) - NKK Switches further expands its extensive product offering of pushbutton switches with the announcement of the YB series of panel-sealed pushbutton switch devices.
The YB series of illuminated and non-illuminated panel-sealed switches is a highly engineered, power or logic level rated, short body switch. It features a maximum depth behind panel of less than one inch, allowing high-density design where desired. Power models are rated 3A @ 125V AC, 3A @ 250V AC, or 3A @ 30V DC. The logic level version is rated 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC. These bushing mounted switches feature a round panel opening, which meets the industry standard of 16mm. In addition, this series is UL Recognized, CSA Certified and qualifies to IP65 of IEC529 Standards for oil tight, dust tight and splash-proof panel seal requirements (similar to NEMA 4 and 13).
NKK's extensive YB panel-sealed series offers design engineers innumerable configurations, styles, colors and options. It is available in SPDT and DPDT, momentary or alternate action. The alternate action version features a latch-down mechanism that clearly indicates status, and audible and tactile feedback that guarantees smooth and responsive operation. This series can be specified with round, square or rectangular shaped caps. The YB devices are unique in that they feature a thermoplastic elastomer seal on the interior of the caps, as well as a rolled sleeve of nitrile butadiene rubber at the joining of the housing and inner case, for added protection to the internal mechanisms. The square and rectangular versions also feature a combination bezel-barrier as an integral part of the switch. This unique design prevents accidental actuation and enhances the aesthetics of these pushbuttons.
Illuminated models of the YB series are unique in their offerings, which include incandescent bulbs in various voltages, as well as a myriad of LED colors, intensities, and combinations. Engineers can specify between Bright or Super-Bright multi-element LED options. Colors include red, green and amber in Bright, and white, blue or green in Super Bright LEDs. Full-face, spot illuminated and bicolor versions can also be
configured. Uniquely, design engineers can specify pre-resistored LED models in various values to save time, money and labor during the assembly process. Non-illuminated models offer cap color choices of white, red, yellow, green or blue.
The YB series of panel-sealed illuminated or non-illuminated pushbuttons are available with Solder Lug/.110" Quick Connect, or Straight PC terminals. All terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out flux, dust, solvents, and other contaminants. Accessory
options include protective guards and dust covers. Matching indicators are also available. The YB pushbuttons easily accommodate legends, and legend packets are available upon request from NKK Switches.
