Avanex Introduces Next-Generation Submarine Pumps



FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 21 -- Avanex Corporation (NASDAQ:AVNX), a pioneer of intelligent photonic solutions that enable next- generation optical networks, today introduced its new 94SGP PowerDeep(TM) submarine pump module. This new product has an operating power of 400mW, the highest power pump available for submarine applications, and will be available for deployment in highly reliable repeaters throughout next-generation submerged fiber networks.

The new 94SGP pump module integrates the high performance PowerIntense(TM) 980nm laser chip with proven packaging technology. This combination of high optical power and reliability enables submarine system integrators to design new architectures with an unsurpassed level of dependable power at a lower cost.
