Corrigent Releases New Packet Transport Switch Product Line
San Jose, CA, March 27th, 2007 - Corrigent Systems, a leading provider of Packet Transport equipment, today announced the release of the CM-4000 Packet Transport Switch (PTS) series, a new line of advanced transport products designed to provide highly scalable end-to-end delivery of packet and TDM services over a single, converged transport infrastructure. This new product line builds on Corrigent's industry-leading packet transport technology and is designed to provide a universal transport solution, capable of delivering any traffic mix, from 100% circuit-based TDM to 100% Ethernet services with high cost efficiency.
The CM-4000 PTS, which includes the CM-4314 and CM-4206, provides full non-blocking switching capacity of 320Gbps and 160Gbps respectively, scalable to 640Gbps and 320Gbps. It provides unmatched in-service scalability through the introduction of advanced bonding technologies, which allow network operators to scale network links to up to 100Gbps per link.
The CM-4000 PTS facilitates the migration towards all-IP by providing network operators with a viable path to convergence through the introduction of SONET/SDH-to-Ethernet interworking, and high-port-density Ethernet interfaces. While still providing full support for circuit-based TDM services and applications, the CM-4000 enables service providers to cost-effectively offer standards-compliant E-Line, E-LAN and E-TREE Ethernet services. This facilitates the delivery of profitable advanced IP services such as residential Triple Play, business Ethernet and the backhaul of 3G and 3.5G wireless and WiMax services over a single, converged packet transport infrastructure.
The CM-4000 PTS also offers a unique application and service-aware traffic management scheme, which guarantees end-to-end performance during congestion, and enables dynamic bandwidth reclamation and optimal bandwidth utilization at all times. With the CM-4000, service providers can guarantee end-to-end performance for their services, but also differentiate between application instances, effectively allowing carriers to benefit from higher margins on preferred services and overcoming net neutrality.
Michael Howard of Infonetics research says, "Our research shows that many service providers around the globe are looking for a single metro network element that is capable of providing both circuit and packet-based transport. The CM-4000 is one of a new breed of such products embodying the characteristics that large carriers are looking for to build their next gen metro networks."
"Packet Transport is the next step for carriers looking to implement Ethernet-centric transport networks", said Gady Rosenfeld, VP Marketing for Corrigent Systems. "Our CM-4000 Packet Transport Switch represents the merger point for transport and Ethernet, allowing carriers to benefit from Ethernet's ubiquity, simplicity and cost effectiveness, and yet maintain the general-purpose characteristics of the transport network."
Corrigent is unveiling the CM-4000 PTS product line simultaneously this week at two leading telecommunications events: the C5 World Forum in Milan, Italy and at the OFC/NFOEC exhibition in Anaheim, California.
The CM-4000 PTS product line addresses service providers' challenges in building carrier-class, general-purpose metro transport networks. Among the many benefits the CM-4000 offers are:
o In-service scalability of network-side links of up to 100Gbps
through advanced link bonding technologies
o Universal packet transport of any combination of TDM and packet
traffic, from 100% TDM to 100% Ethernet
o Fully non-blocking switching capacity of 320Gbps scalable to
o Support for the complete range of PDH, SONET/SDH, Fibre Channel
and Ethernet interfaces
o Advanced TDM-to-Ethernet interworking functions on high-density,
multi-service SONET/SDH and PDH interfaces
o Application and service-aware traffic management to overcome net
neutrality, allowing carriers to benefit from higher margins on preferred services
o Multi-rate and Multi-protocol configurable interfaces for quick
and flexible service activation
o Colored optics and OTN interfaces, for cost-effective
integration with the photonic network
o Transport-class availability with guaranteed sub-50ms service
recovery over any topology
o Hierarchical, fully-correlated, multi-layer OAM, providing
transport-class performance monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting functionality
The capabilities of the CM-4000 PTS translate into clear business advantages for service providers offering or looking to offer the following end-user applications:
o Residential Triple Play services (VoIP, Video and Internet
o Business Ethernet, including point to point and multipoint
o 3/3.5G wireless and WiMax backhaul
o Peer-to-peer and on-demand content distribution
