Protocol Tester offers narrowband and wideband AMR support.

Press Release Summary:

Available with Wideband AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) support, 6113 AIME (Air Interface Monitor Emulation) base station protocol test system enables infrastructure developers to create and test new GSM base station software and hardware features by providing mobile emulation. Wideband AMR codecs TCH/WFS12.65, TCH/WFS8.85, and TCH/WFS6.60 build on existing narrowband AMR technology, and their introduction enhances quality of voice services.

Aeroflex Enables Higher Voice Quality through Wideband AMR Support for Its 6113 Base Station Protocol Test System

Burnham, England-January 10, 2008- Aeroflex announces the addition of Wideband AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) support to its highly successful 6113 AIME (Air Interface Monitor Emulation) base station protocol test system. This new capability affects the 3GPP TS45.003 test specification.

The new Wideband AMR codecs (TCH/WFS12.65, TCH/WFS8.85, TCH/WFS6.60) build on existing narrowband AMR technology and their introduction will significantly improve the quality of voice services due to the wider speech bandwidth used.

"Wideband AMR features need to be correctly configured, optimized and maintained to give subscribers the full quality of service that the new speech codecs can deliver," said Ross Broadhurst, product marketing manager, Aeroflex Test Solutions, Wireless Division. "This new feature to our 6113 AIME protocol test system allows infrastructure developers to develop, integrate and test Wideband AMR base station capabilities. And they can to do so in advance of the mobile handset capability becoming available."

A powerful test and development tool, the Aeroflex 6113 AIME base station protocol tester enables infrastructure developers to create and test new GSM base station software and hardware features by providing a mobile emulation. Combining the 6113E test set with the 6113E AIME software package, it provides software engineers with a layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3 monitoring and emulation capability for the Um interface. Software engineers can monitor, debug and fault-find the layer 1 and protocol interchanges on the Um interface with fully decoded display of layer 2 and layer 3 messages. The 6113 AIME protocol test system also features sophisticated script editing, debugging, execution and automation facilities, and logging of all air interface signaling and traffic frames.
