Absolute Analysis Announces World's First Fully Fledged Serial RapidIO Protocol Analyzer

Absolute Analysis, the worldwide leader in serial interface test solutions, today introduced support for the Serial RapidIO protocol for their flagship Investigator(TM) test platform.

First and foremost, Investigator(TM) for RapidIO brings accurate data capture of up to 6.25 Gbps that's essential for troubleshooting Serial RapidIO issues.

Newbury Park, CA - Absolute Analysis, the worldwide leader in serial interface test solutions, today introduced support for the Serial RapidIO protocol for their flagship Investigator(TM) test platform. This makes Investigator(TM) the world's first fully fledged protocol analyzer for Serial RapidIO, designed to significantly reduce the cost and time required to test, debug, and validate Serial RapidIO.

Built on Absolute Analysis' flagship product platform, Investigator(TM), this solution utilizes the platform's full capabilities, including full line rate data capture, full protocol decodes and intuitive display of data, and real time statistics. Also, multiple protocols can be supported on the same hardware, thus providing designers the tools they need to validate compliance and interoperability testing necessary in today's networked world.

The Investigator(TM) for RapidIO supports speeds from 1.25 Gbps to 6.25 Gbps, and include Revisions 1.3 and 2.1 of the Serial RapidIO protocol specification. This will allow any designer to fully utilize the tool on any Serial RapidIO projects, both now and in the future.

"We definitely saw a need with our customers to provide support for Serial RapidIO," said Dennis Murphy, CEO of Absolute Analysis. "Our customers were struggling with logic analyzers, making validation extremely painful and time consuming. Now, there is a packaged solution that can help these designers get their products to market faster and with higher quality."

The Investigator(TM) for RapidIO will interface into a device under test using a diverse range of methods, including SMA connectors, a mid-bus probe, and custom connectors. Once connected, external triggers will provide integration with logic analyzers and other external test equipment. This will solve one of the big dilemmas for designers needing to debug and test their Serial RapidIO lines within their system.

"First and foremost, Investigator(TM) for RapidIO brings accurate data capture of up to 6.25 Gbps that's essential for troubleshooting Serial RapidIO issues." said Manoj Samanta, VP of Engineering Development at Absolute Analysis. "And there's no compromise on debugging features with advanced triggering and filtering, 4GB built-in memory, and full decoding of the latest Serial RapidIO Revision 2.1 specification."

Using Investigator(TM) for RapidIO as part of a multi-protocol test environment has become a key application area for serial interface designers. Embedded system designers need to design with interoperability in mind within a multiple protocol environment. The Investigator(TM) platform simplifies debugging of these environments by seamlessly synchronizing all the protocols on the same hardware platform. As such, the Investigator(TM) serial test system provides a true multiprotocol testing solution.

Investigator(TM) for RapidIO will be available starting October 1. The company is currently taking pre-orders on a limited basis. View the product datasheet here.
