Protecode Integrates Open Source License Management with Perforce SCM Solution

Open Source License Management Becomes Seamless Part of the Software Development Process

Ottawa, ON and Alameda, CA - Protecode Inc., an innovative provider of open source license management solutions, today announced its participation in Perforce Software's integration partner program. Seamless integration with Protecode's Library Auditor(TM) will enable Perforce users to manage and comply with open source and 3rd party licenses in their software libraries, which will reduce costs and legal risks. The robust and flexible Library Auditor fits any team's traditional or agile workflow, increases productivity and improves software quality.

"Through Protecode's Partner Program we are developing strong relationships with companies who are leaders in their respective markets and who share our commitment to strong customer satisfaction," said Kamal Hassin, Protecode's Vice President of Product Management. "By participating in an integration partnership with Perforce Software, we can profitably address the market demand for open source and license compliance through third party software integration in software-based organizations."

Perforce and Library Auditor work together seamlessly and without disruption to existing development practices. Anytime any content is checked into specific branches of the Perforce library, analysis is performed. If code is in violation of the established licensing policy, a notification is sent to an administrator.

"The addition of code scanning and open source license management to Perforce SCM functions allows the development community to take controlled advantage of open source software in their projects," said Randy DeFauw, Technical Marketing Manager at Perforce Software. "Perforce is pleased to welcome Protecode into its integration partner program, as part of its goal to integrate with best-of-breed solutions in every category."

Library Auditor is part of Protecode's System 4(TM) open source license management product line, ensuring legal compliance with open source licensing obligations at different stages of a quality product development process. Library Auditor ensures that all files committed to a code repository are compliant with an organization's open source licensing policy. It is lightweight, easy to deploy, and works with all other reporting and management capabilities of Protecode System 4 components.
