Toshiba Teli Expands Firewire Camera Line with High-Speed, Progressive Scan CCD Model
IRVINE, CA, July 28, 2005 Toshiba Teli America, Inc., the North American subsidiary of the Toshiba Teli Corporation, continues to provide proven leadership in machine vision technology by introducing today the CS3950DiF, a 1/3-inch progressive scan CCD monochrome camera featuring Firewire (IEEE 1394) output, a 30 frame-per-second frame rate at XGA resolution (1024 x 768), a random trigger shutter function, and a scalable mode function that facilitates faster video output by reading only specified portions of the screen.
Ideally positioned between standard resolution cameras and higher priced megapixel models, the CS3950DiF is targeted for use in high-speed machine vision applications that require very fast processing of large amounts of image data. Other quality-sensitive applications for this camera are robotics, microscopy, scientific or measurement systems.
The camera's Firewire interface helps to lower the cost of system integration because it utilizes standard cables and it does not require a framegrabber. Video, control signals and electrical power are optimally handled by a single cable to and from a workstation, PC or interface card at a transfer rate of 400 Mbps.
For added speed and reduced processing time, the camera offers a scalable mode that reads out a defined area of the screen. Only the necessary portions are read at standard speed while the camera scans through other unnecessary sections at high speed, so the trigger interval is shorter.
Boasting a compact and lightweight footprint, the CS3950DiF measures 35mm x 49mm x 98mm, and weighs a mere 170 grams. Its C-Mount lens allows for flexible interfacing with various optical systems.
