Data I/O® Announces PS288FC Automated Device Programming System for Medium Volume/High Mix Applications

Creating a whole new price-performance sector, the new programming system provides precision and consistency of high volume systems at mid-volume price levels

Redmond, WA, February 24, 2004 - Data I/O® Corporation, (NASDAQ:DAIO) the leading provider of manual and automated programming systems, today announced the availability of the PS288FC Automated Device Programming System. The newest member of Data I/O's industry-proven family of PS Series Automated Programmers, this new system is designed for Medium Volume/High Mix applications.

The current challenges in programming environments demand machines that set a higher industry performance standard in component handling efficiency. They must be capable of handling the changing values of today's programming requirements including smaller varying lot sizes with a focus on costs, throughput and fast changeover times.

"With the PS288FC, we have created a whole new price/performance sector for automated programming systems," said Mark Briant, Product Manager - Automated Systems. "Even though a customer may be programming devices in smaller batches, they need the same control, precision and consistency as high-volume programming, and the PS288FC more than meets these key requirements. Highly automated, supremely flexible, and compact in size, the PS288FC is designed to maximize the effectiveness of your programming environment."

Industry-Proven Technology and Design

Based on Data I/O's PS300 family of modular automated programmers, the PS288FC is completely compatible with any PS System. The same user interface, programmers, consumables, algorithms and programming job files are used throughout the PS programming family. These unique attributes enhance productivity and significantly reduce the cost of switching. Additionally, the same feeder options such as tray, tape and tube are available, all part of Data I/O's modular product concept guaranteeing compatibility and protecting the customer's investment.

The PS288FC has a smaller, compact footprint, designed to fit into less workspace, preserving the valuable production floor.

The new PS288FC is supported by FlashCORE(TM), the same high-speed architecture used in Data I/O's industry leading FlashPAK(TM), ProLINE-RoadRunner(TM) and PS300FC(TM) programming systems. Offering enhanced programming time performance, FlashCORE supports the highest density devices.

High Mix Programming

Medium volume high mix programming environments demand flexibility, particularly in terms of product changeover. The PS288FC is optimized for this type of programming environment, with systems reconfiguration times typically at less than ten minutes for new jobs. The system offers the high volume functionality and flexibility of a high-end automated programming system, without the complexity.

Capable of programming 16 sites simultaneously, the system supports a variety of packages and device types.

With its unique price performance positioning, proven technology and quality, ease of use and system flexibility, backed by the Data I/O global support organization, the PS288FC is the perfect choice for Medium Volume/High Mix device programming applications.
