New 16-Port 'Ethernet-to-Serial' Programmable Device Server

DeviceMaster® PRO includes Free Management Software

Minneapolis, MN-Tuesday, June 30, 2004 ... Comtrol Corporation, a leading provider of serial device integration technology, recently expanded its line of DeviceMaster products to include a 16-port version of its DeviceMaster PRO product. The DeviceMaster PRO 16-Port 10/100 Base-T device server provides bus-independent serial port expansion and a platform for hosting and running custom-developed applications.

In addition, customers who currently own, purchase, or upgrade to DeviceMaster device servers can receive Comtrol's new PortVision(TM) serial port management console free! PortVision software gives network administrators an easy-to-use, affordable, graphical, and convenient way to remotely access, manage, and configure serial devices from a centrally located personal computer. PortVision software detects and graphically displays, in detail, every DeviceMaster server on the network. Now, network administrators can see real-time operating conditions of each device server at a glance.

The DeviceMaster PRO device server delivers quick and easy peripheral connectivity using the Ethernet LAN. This server supports RS-232/422/485 software-selectable interfaces on 16 RJ45 ports. An eight-port DB9/RJ45 model was just released in May. DeviceMaster PRO is ideally suited for applications where multiple interface formats are required to connect peripherals located long distances from the server and when programmability and enhanced surge protection of 25KV per port is desired.

When you use DeviceMaster PRO, serial ports can reside outside the server anywhere on the LAN. This means the server can be kept in a secure location while ports conveniently reside anywhere they are needed!

Additionally, now through December 31, 2004, Comtrol's DeviceMaster trade-up program offers a $25/port rebate. A complete list of qualifying trade-in products and qualifying purchase products is located on Comtrol's Web site at www.comtrol.com.
